Conservation Land Specialist (Contract)
Job Overview
We are seeking a Conservation Land Specialist to provide expert guidance and strategic development for a unique 40-acre mixed-use property that includes 2 acres of unrestricted land, wooded trails, pastureland, and a private lake. The ideal candidate is familiar with conservation land use, understands restrictions and compliance, and can lead business development initiatives focused on sustainable land utilization. This role is ideal for someone with experience in horse boarding, agricultural programs, and federal land-use funding opportunities.

- Approximately 40 acres of conservation land with :
- Established hiking and wooded trails
- A 4-acre lake
- 10 acres of usable pasture (ideal for horses, livestock, or agriculture)
- 2 acres unrestricted
Responsibilities
Assess the propertys current conservation status and identify viable land use opportunities compliant with existing restrictions.Develop and implement business development strategies to generate revenue through conservation-friendly activities (e.g., pasture leasing, horse boarding, eco-tourism).Design and propose recreational or educational programs eligible for federal or state funding, such as fishing initiatives, outdoor education, or conservation partnerships.Create trail maps and signage strategies that promote public or private access while maintaining conservation integrity.Provide recommendations for maximizing land value while preserving ecological and legal boundaries.Identify and apply for grants, subsidies, or funding programs that support rural land development, conservation, or agritourism.Qualifications
Proven experience working with conservation land and understanding of legal use restrictions.Background in land use planning, environmental science, agriculture, or related field.Demonstrated success in business development or income-generating land use strategies.Familiarity with pasture management and horse boarding operations.Knowledge of federal conservation programs such as USDA, NRCS, or FSA initiativesExcellent research, writing, and proposal development skills.Ability to work independently as a contractor and deliver actionable recommendations and reports.Preferred Skills :
Grant writing or program development experienceKnowledge of Georgia land use laws and conservation easements (if applicable to your location)GIS mapping capabilitiesStrong communication skills for presenting proposals to stakeholders
