Pay Range : $165,000 - $195,000 / year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Science Director, Immunology Onsite in San Juan Capistrano, CA

The Scientific Director for Immunology, in collaboration with the Medical Director, will provide leadership for the Immunology Department at the Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano, one of Quest Diagnostics' several Esoteric Laboratory centers of excellence
Responsibilities
Direct and provide oversight of testing at the Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano for allergic and autoimmune disorders (including neuroimmunology), markers of acute and chronic inflammation, monoclonal gammopathy, immunodeficiency diseases and measurement of therapeutic monoclonal immunoglobulins and their antibodies.Work with clinical laboratory operation staff to ensure that assays are performing as expected and laboratory practice meets CLIA, CAP and State regulatory requirements.Review Immunology procedures and suggest changes to improve assay performance, including sensitivity & specificity, efficiency and turnaround timeProvide clinical leadership for Immunology assays — from development through launchPartner with R&D and Regulatory teams on for Immunology assay development including clinical validations and submissions to meet regulatory requirements (FDA, CLIA, CAP, CLEP).Participate in overall quality management of the Nichols Institute Immunology Department including quality control, proficiency testing, the overall testing process, corrective actions, CLS competency assessment and continuing educationPartner closely with various Subspecialty teams, product managers, sales and marketing staff to provide advice and guidance regarding medical, scientific, business and policy decisions involving Immunology testingInteract with collaborators in academic medical centers and to improve the quality of Immunology testingFacilitate and consult on the involvement of Immunology testing in new clinical research proposals and advise senior management regarding potential collaboration with industryServe as a trusted scientific advisor to internal teams, healthcare providers, and external partnersSupport scientific communication, education, and medical marketing initiativesParticipate in change management and support technology roll outsAttend national and local meetings to maintain and build knowledge in Immunology, represent Quest Diagnostics and drive the vision for the departmentExperience working in a matrixed environment a plusQualifications
PhD in Immunology or a specialty related to ImmunologyCalifornia License or eligible is required to perform job duties as Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) and the ability to obtain a CA Directors LicenseDMLI(ASCP) or equivalent is preferredPhD California laboratory director license or eligibility, preferredTwo-five years relevant experience in Clinical ImmunologyNY State CoQ holder in Immunology or ability to obtain CoQKnowledge of clinical lab operations, immunology testing, and regulatory pathwaysStrong communicator who can bridge clinical expertise with business needsExcellent verbal, written and presentation skillsPassion for improving patient care through science and innovationOrganization Description
