Job Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to implement treatment plans and assist in rehabilitating patients with various physical, developmental, or cognitive conditions.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for helping patients achieve their goals, and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans developed by Occupational Therapists to support patient goals
- Provide direct patient care through therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions
- Monitor and document patient progress, modifying treatment approaches as needed
- Educate patients and families on therapy procedures and home exercise programs
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and healthcare team members for coordinated care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and organized patient records in compliance with regulations
- Assist in preparing and maintaining therapy equipment and treatment environments
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to treatment planning discussions
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality and respect
Required Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant programAbility to follow treatment protocols and work collaboratively in a clinical settingStrong organizational and communication skillsKnowledge of therapeutic techniques and patient care best practicesPreferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a clinical or rehabilitation settingFamiliarity with electronic health records (EHR) systemsCertifications
Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)State licensure or eligibility as required
