Job Description : Cyber Technical Lead
Federal client is seeking an experienced Cyber Technical Lead to support a Homeland Security program. This role requires providing both strategic vision and hands-on technical leadership to ensure the security and integrity of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have deep cybersecurity expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and experience supporting federal environments.
This is a full-time onsite role , and candidates must live within a commutable distance to Annapolis Junction, MD. Participation in a rotational on-call schedule is required to support operational needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary cybersecurity technical lead, ensuring compliance with Homeland Security policies and directives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and security policies.
- Oversee risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat intelligence activities.
- Lead and mentor cybersecurity engineers and analysts.
- Conduct security architecture reviews and technical assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align security requirements with operational and business needs.
- Support continuous monitoring, audits, and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for security operations and incident response support.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or related fields.Active Secret Clearance .U.S. Citizen without dual citizenship (Federal requirement).Ability to work onsite five days per week at a government facility.Must reside within a commutable distance to Annapolis Junction, MD.Willingness to participate in a rotational on-call schedule.Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, RMF, FISMA).Proven experience leading cybersecurity teams and managing large-scale security initiatives.Hands-on experience with security tools (SIEM, IDS / IPS, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection).Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.Preferred Qualifications
CISSP strongly preferred; additional certifications (CISM, CISA, CEH) are a plus.Experience supporting Homeland Security or other federal agencies.Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).Advanced security certifications (CISSP-ISSAP, GIAC, OSCP).Employment Prerequisites
