Patient ratios consist of 1 : 1 for laboring patients and 3 : 1 for couplets. The unit staff includes birth registrars and surgical techs. Equipment used includes wireless and GE fetal monitoring systems. Documentation is handled via Meditech and CPN systems. Scheduling will require working every 3rd weekend. A floating policy is in place to sister facilities for labor / delivery and postpartum care. Patient experience requires bedside report and safety rounding. The unit performs procedures such as C-sections, circumcisions, vaginal deliveries, antepartum testing, and ultrasounds. The working environment promotes a teamwork atmosphere within a close-knit, family-oriented unit. Self-scheduling options are available for nurses. Awards and recognition include participation in a Unit-Based Council and Daisy Award nominations. Unit-specific policies and guidelines apply.
