License : Registered Nurse license required. Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. Must-Have : Previous charge experience preferred. Description : MUST START ON 12 / 15. Candidates who are at least 50 miles from the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Patient ratios during the day, night, and weekend shifts are 5 : 1. Floating to other units is not required. On-call duties are assigned one shift per every six-week schedule. Weekend coverage includes 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. The unit serves adult and geriatric patients. Daily census ranges from 10 to 13 patients. The unit has 13 rooms and 13 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Common patient diagnoses include post-op cases, orthopedic issues, diabetes, pneumonia, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, and urology cases. This is a medical-surgical unit without telemetry monitoring or cardiovascular drips. Candidates should be skilled in accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, bowel obstruction care, central line blood draws, chest tube management, colostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, CPAP / BiPAP use, feeding tube management, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, interpretation of arterial blood gases, isolation precautions, medication / surgical care, managing mood disorders, and non-invasive airway management. Additional skills include oral suctioning, orthopedic trauma care, oxygen administration, PCA, peripheral line care, PICC line management, pre / post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, short stay unit care, starting and maintaining IVs, managing surgical drains, telemetry care, total joint replacements, and use of rapid response / code teams. The facility conducts mandatory drug screens upon arrival, which include tests for marijuana. A positive result is an automatic cancellation with no exceptions. Candidates should avoid any products that could lead to a positive drug screen when arriving onsite. Clinicians must be available to complete necessary lab items within 72 hours of accepting the offer. Experience with the preferred charting system is a plus. Travel experience is preferred.
