Job description

Compensation : Flat rate of $55-$60 per hour depending on experience.

POSITION SUMMARY :

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide essential treatments by evaluating patients and selecting appropriate therapies to enhance or restore their communication functions. This role also involves community education and the clinical training of students. You may need to cover multiple sites as necessary.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION :

  • Master's degree from an accredited Speech Language Pathology program.
  • Active Connecticut license for Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.

COMPETENCIES :

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between different work sites as needed.

    • ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Conduct evaluations of patients in line with departmental standards.
  • Adapt evaluations based on patient symptoms and medical status, setting individualized goals.
  • Administer therapeutic techniques tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Utilize physical agents and manual techniques to meet established objectives.
  • Implement effective strategies for normalizing speech and language activities.
  • Guide patients and families in home exercise programs to promote independent function.
  • Assess when a patient has reached optimal benefit from therapy and recommend discharge when appropriate.
  • Document care according to insurance guidelines and facility policies.
  • Foster strong communication with other departments and referring physicians regarding patient care.
  • Accurately submit charges daily.
  • Adhere to the professional code of ethics set by ASHA and the facility.
  • Maintain safety and proper body mechanics during all duties.
  • Supervise at least one student per year from an affiliated program.
  • Engage in continuing education courses to further enhance treatment techniques.
  • Participate in departmental or community educational programs.
