Medical Office Referral Coordinator
A non-exempt medical office position responsible for all referrals for the medical offices in the market.
Responsibilities
Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his / her specific job functions / responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues / concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
Process patient referrals for the practices in the market.
Facilitates orders outside to outside facilities.
Coordinate scheduling of office visits for the referred patient.
Assist patient with finding resources that accept the various insurances.
Obtains pre-authorization from payers.
Calls insurance companies to get medications approved that may have been denied due to formulary changes.
Logs in daily to system to check status of patient not mapped correctly and updates patient charts.
Set up referring providers, payers and chart mergers in the Electronic System.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma / GED or equivalent working knowledge
Experience : One year direct patient experience in a medical insurance or healthcare related industry.
