As an experienced MPD Engineer / MPD Technologist, you will support MPD system design, planning, simulation, and operations support from our Houston office. You will work closely with field supervisors / operators from the operations team, third-party vendors, and clients to ensure safe and efficient MPD program execution. You will contribute to procedure development, modeling, and problem-solving to optimize well performance and mitigate operational risks.
The requirements and responsibilities of an MPD Engineer include the following :
- Preparing feasibility study assessments for potential new clients, analyzing the appropriate application of Beyond Energy MPD equipment and expertise to each specific project.
- Develop MPD design basis documents : hydraulic models, ECD / ESD profiles, choke schedules, surge / swab analyses, inflow tolerance, pill schedules, etc., using in-house developed hydraulic modeling software and external hydraulic modeling software, in steady-state and semi-transient simulations for MPD operations.
- Assist in developing contingency plans, ramp tables, trip schedules, drilling parameters recommendations, and operating procedures for MPD operations.
- Analyze real-time drilling and pressure data to monitor and adjust recommended parameters to maintain MPD operations within the scope of work and objectives.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting guidance to field MPD crews and Drilling Engineers.
- Collaborate with drilling, completions, reservoirs, fluids, and well control teams to ensure integrated design.
- Contribute to the improvement of MPD models, workflows, software tools, and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, post-job analysis, lessons learned, and performance metrics.
- Support training and knowledge transfer activities to Junior MPD Engineers and peers.
- Interface with client and operations teams for the MPD system selection according to the best-fitted solution for the project requirements, leveraging the broad selection of the Beyond Energy portfolio.
- Travelling to customers' locations and providing field support for ongoing operations as needed.
- Working with management to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the engineering department and company.
- Exemplify the corporate B.E.S.T P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S in all aspects of their work.

A bachelor's or associate's degree in engineering from an accredited university.3-5+ years of direct MPD or engineering experience focusing on drilling / well construction / or related pressure-control engineering roles.Proficient with well simulation software (e.g., well hydraulics tools, drilling modeling software).Excellent written and verbal communication in English.Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and adapt to evolving challenges.Strong Excel and Administrative M.S. Office tools skills.Strong competency in hydraulics, wellbore modeling, surge / swab, influx modeling, and choke control understanding.Good analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with MPD hardware (chokes, rotating control devices, pressure control systems).U.S. citizenship or valid authorization to work in the U.S without sponsorship.Initial training and guidance will be provided, but the engineer is expected to be able to handle different projects independently within a set timeframe.Schedule flexibility to provide support within customer drilling schedules with occasional after-hours engineering support and rotating weekends on-call.Completion of (F.E.) Fundamentals Exam.Preferred qualifications include :
Petroleum Engineering degree.Professional certifications (e.g., SPE, IADC WellSharp, IWCF)Experience in thin margin wells, HPHT, or unconventional plays.Advanced knowledge of well control, HSE practices, and regulatory compliance.Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, VBA) to automate modeling and data analysis tasks, including Excel Macro scripting.Hands-on experience or exposure to MPD operations (onshore / offshore) or pressure control systems.Exposure to multi-phase flow, gas-handling, PMCD, and underbalanced drilling techniques.USA-approved first aid, and other applicable safety / field certifications.Working Conditions & Logistics
This role is primarily office-based in Houston; occasional travel may occur (e.g., to job sites, client meetings, or vendor visits).Standard work hours, with occasional after-hours or support during critical operations. You will partner closely with field personnel, so responsiveness and support capability are required.Flexibility for weekend on-call scheduling.
