This position is responsible for torch brazing, cutting, carbon arc gouging, grinding, and welding on transformers. In this role the successful candidate will be welding mostly carbon steel and potentially aluminum; they will also be brazing copper wire and buss bars. In this position an employee will be working on various size and type transformer equipment. When not welding, brazing, or prepping a successful candidate will be trained to perform various transformer repair operations including, but not lim i ted to : G asketing, basic assembly / disassembly, component change out, and oil processing. Fabricate / prep / weld various parts correctly using job build list, drawings, specifications and procedures Inspect various kinds of transformers for winding damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions and pressure leaks Document / record all relevant data specific to unit's current condition, deficiencies, and / or damage Prepare all reusable parts for reassembly and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions. Meet and sustain established quality and production volume performance criteria Qualifications and Competencies : Previous experience / certifications in MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding), TIG (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), Stick (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux-cored Arc Welding), and Spray Arc Welding required Previous experience in Carbon Arc Gouging and Plasma Cutting required. Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division including understanding fractions Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple to moderately complex written and verbal instructions Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job related training, operational, and safety procedures Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to routine duties within set company standards Ability to operate machinery, powered industrial trucks, hoists, and overhead crane You'll thrive at IPS if you...
