About The Position

Must-Have : CHEMO preferred

Description :

Unit has 30 beds designated for cancer patients and chemotherapy.

Certification requirements include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CHEMO is preferred.

Patient to nurse ratio is 5 : 1.

Electronic Medical Record system used is Cerner Power Chart.

Charge Nurse typically does not take on patient load.

Nurse Aides are available unless pulled for sitters, with a ratio of 1 : 8 to 1 : 36 depending on staffing.

Every other weekend is required.

Holidays will be rotated into permanent staff rotation.

Expected to work on holidays.

Registered Nurses wear blue scrubs, and Nurse Aides wear green.

No telemetry on this unit.

Respiratory support includes BiPap and CPAP.

Hospitalists are available in-house.

Pharmacy support is available 24 / 7.

Shifts are from 0645 to 1915 and 1845 to 0715.

Floating to telemetry and other medical / surgical units is required.

Orientation includes a 1-hour session to review location of resources related to the floor.

The unit provides the highest level of care for patients.

Common diagnoses include various types of cancer.

The hospital has a cancellation policy that allows for adjustments to shifts based on staffing needs.
