Purpose of Position:
As a member of the nursing team and under the supervision of a Professional Nurse, provides supportive nursing care to patients/clients within an assigned unit; performs a wide variety of patient care activities and supportive services for assigned patients.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Sea View is a 304-bed long term care facility with a 5-Star CMS Quality Rating located on an 88-acre landmark campus in Staten Island's lush Greenbelt, easily accessible from all points by car and bus. Sea View provides high quality short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing services in a warm and comfortable setting. The facility is also well-known for its long-term care Traumatic Brain Injury unit, the first of its kind in New York State.From more than 600 Nursing Homes, Sea View ranked #1 in Newsweek’s Best Nursing Homes in New York 2023 & 2024. Duties & Responsibilities:
Purpose of Position:
As a member of the nursing team and under the supervision of a Professional Nurse, provides supportive nursing care to patients/clients within an assigned unit; performs a wide variety of patient care activities and supportive services for assigned patients.
Examples of Typical Tasks:
- Gives nursing care to patients as assigned.
- Administers and records medications and treatments as assigned.
- Prepares for and assists Physicians and others with diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Reinforces, supports and provides health care instructions to patients and their families.
- Participates with other team members in planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care and other patient activities.
- Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
- Observes and reports patients’ vital signs, symptoms and general condition to the appropriate individuals(s).
- Records on patient charts observation of patients responses to nursing care rendered.
- Maintains environmental conditions conducive to the comfort and safety of patients.
- Assists with unit management and/or assumes charge of unit as assigned.
- Performs other nursing functions related to patient care and nursing service, as delegated by the Nursing Service Administration.
- Guides and directs other Licensed Practical Nurses, Technicians and Nurse’s Aides in rendering patient care.
- Maintains clinical competence through participation and attendance at continuing education programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently licensed or otherwise duly authorized to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York.
