We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This is a remote (1 day a week in Columbia, MD office), full-time permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals in the Accounting and Finance industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all accounting operations, including month-end close, GAAP, and FASB. This role requires a high level of expertise, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Job Details

Responsibilities

1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to : accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.

2. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing / billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.

3. Coordinate and ensure the timely and accurate month-end and year-end close process.

4. Ensure compliance with all internal processes and relevant regulations and ensure all company financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP and FASB.

5. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

6. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.

7. Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.

8. Manage budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control procedures.

9. Identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvement. Based on findings, make proposals for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc.).

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master’s degree or CPA is highly desirable.

2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.

3. Solid experience with month-end close, GAAP, and FASB.

4. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

6. High level of integrity, intense professionalism, and strong work ethic.

7. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of accounting software.

8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

9. Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage large amounts of data, and manage deadlines.

10. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with an ability to think proactively and prioritize work.
