The population served includes cardiac and neuro stepdown patients. Responsibilities include cardiac bedside monitoring, cardiac drips, post heart catheterizations, and managing stroke / neuro patients. The patient age range is from young adult through late adult (18 - 60). The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6. The staffing plan is variable and includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), and Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team. Travelers may be asked to float to different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius. Floating will be based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity.
