Job description

Certified Medical Coding Specialist HYBRID –

3+ Month Contract

Contract Duration : 3 months or longer. Potential for direct hire.

Hours Monday-Friday 7am-5pm Flexible.

Pathology Billing Services is owned by one of the largest groups of pathology providers in Arizona. Our physicians practice at numerous hospitals and healthcare systems throughout the state. At Pathology Billing Services, we handle the medical billing and coding needs of this group.

JOB SUMMARY :

As a Certified Medical Coder , you will work in a multitasking environment focused on pathology patient accounts. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately extract and assign CPT and ICD-10 codes based on the finalized pathology reports. Additionally, you will identify any missing information and follow up as needed to ensure that complete documentation is available for all billable charges.

Essential Functions :

  • Review charges in our billing software for completeness and accuracy.
  • Complete coding tasks with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Interpret Pathology reports
  • Verify and apply appropriate modifier(s), ICD-10, and CPT code(s)
  • Ensure all charges are captured and billed out in a timely manner
  • Review and resolve unpriced coding system edits
  • Review and resolve coding related clearinghouse rejections
  • Provide timely responses to coding inquiries from our AR department
  • Maintain a working knowledge of AMA and CPT guidelines

Minimum Qualifications :

  • One year of Medical Billing and / or Coding Experience
  • Current CPC or CPC-A certification required through AAPC
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook applications
  • Previous Pathology Experience is a plus
  • Detail Oriented
  • Dependable
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Capability to manage highly confidential information.
  • Ability to use independent judgement effectively.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds and sit for long periods of time
