Studio - Research and Development

KTGY's engine for ideas, who run ahead of the curve and prove the concepts that flow downstream to the rest of our studios. Operating from our Washington, D.C. office with contributors from throughout KTGY, this team cooperates with other offices to implement construction innovations and new housing paradigms in the field. Their modular concepts have led to real world adoption in the affordable housing sector, and their concepts for community-focused living have seen adoption in urban design, build-to-rent and student housing. Passionate, determined and forward-thinking, this is a studio of thought leaders contributing to their field and industry.

Your Impact

KTGY's Research and Development Designer role conceives and develops design concepts aimed at addressing challenges identified within the markets KTGY serves. With consideration for new construction techniques, updated regulations, and changes in the way that people live, R+D Designers are invigorated by the blank page, looking to solve design challenges in unique ways. Curiosity leads to ideas, ideas drive innovation, and at KTGY we see a world alive with possibilities. Our Research and Development studio is dedicated to innovation that inspires new approaches to the way we design and the way people experience the built environment. Your Role

At KTGY, your career should be as thoughtfully designed as the spaces you create. We're committed to nurturing passionate talent and guiding growth within the following four key aspects of our practice :

Design

Develops design concepts, in collaboration with the R+D team, to address challenges identified within KTGY's target markets. Exercises creative judgment and design problem solving skills to generate design solutions and storytelling graphics. Masters internal workflow, order, timeline and tasks to reach project milestones effectively and efficiently.

Collaboration

Works with team members from throughout KTGY to identify challenges that need to be addressed as well as to gather expertise to support the advancement of design quality in concept development.

Care

Works to become a trusted team resource for all things related to design innovation, new technology tools, and applicable industry research.

Partnership

Develops expertise in connecting with outside experts and resources for the benefit of firmwide learning and future projects.
