Job description

Job Description Summary : Assists the A&H Executive Actuary in the management of actuarial processes for runoff reinsurance, long-term care and disability income insurance blocks. Supports determination of assets needed to support insurance liabilities and the level of capital required for regulatory requirements. Interprets business challenges and recommends best practices to improve processes and outcomes. Utilizes industry understanding to inform decision-making. Remote and hybrid candidates considered.

Roles and Responsibilities

Prepares and analyzes information required to successfully complete quarterly financial reporting, financial projections, experience reviews and other activities associated with a life and health insurance company – primarily related to the company's runoff long-term care and disability income business.

Assists the Rate Increase Leader with the management of LTC rate increase efforts, providing an actuarial voice to the work.

Works with other business units to analyze, explain, and project business results; communicates and collaborates with staff and leaders of different functional groups. High visibility within insurance team.

Leads medium- to large-team functional groups or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and / or complexity. Presents business solutions to leaders, influences peers, and negotiates internally and with external partners, vendors or customers.

Prepares information and works with external partners as required pursuant to business agreements.

Leads others to find creative solutions to complex problems that may impact the organization; evaluates quality of received information, questions conflicting data, and uses multiple internal and external resources and emerging technology to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries, Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and minimum five years of actuarial experience.

Strong modeling and / or model-governance experience.

Minimum three years of experience with health insurance products, preferably strong knowledge of long-term care insurance valuation.

Solutions-focused and flexible; able to drive change and lead others to excel in a dynamic environment.

Demonstrated ability and willingness to embrace emerging technologies.

Willing to embrace corporate strategic objectives and apply strategic frameworks to analyze problems and guide solutions.

Ability to translate and communicate complex topics in a variety of forums, tailoring communications to effectively fit and influence the targeted audience; strong executive presence, presentation and communication skills.

Ability to lead the entire range of problem-solving work from definition to recommendation and implementation plans.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range is $145,600 – $194,500. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Healthcare benefits include medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage; a 24 / 7-based resource; and the Employee Assistance Program. Retirement benefits include the GE Retirement Savings Plan and a 401(k) with company matching contributions. Other benefits include tuition assistance, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability insurance, life insurance and paid time-off for vacation or illness.
