Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to float between PCU and Med-Surg units with strong cardiac and airway management skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital environment, floating between PCU and Med-Surg unitsMust be comfortable working all PCU and MS units, including potentially floating to Inpatient RehabUnit patient ratios average 5 : 1 for PCU and 6 : 1 for Med-Surg, with possible flex up to 7 : 1Charting is completed using Epic; Epic experience is requiredNight shift position with 3x12 hour shifts, 6 : 45 PM – 7 : 15 AMFloating may occur up to every 4 hours and could be 2-3 times per shiftWeekend requirement is either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week blockMust work one holiday per 13-week contract periodResponsible for rapid response and management of emergencies as part of code teamsMay be asked to manage endocrine and metabolic conditions including IV insulin administrationFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyAll time off and schedule requests must be submitted up front; Christmas RTO cannot be approvedOne shift may be called off by the facility per two-week periodHoliday coverage is required for the duration of the contractRequirements
Active VA or Compact RN license in hand, or pending for single-state license holders from non-compact statesCurrent certifications required : ACLS and BLSExperience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration requiredProficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titrating cardiac dripsSkilled in central line care, trach management, PCA and heparin protocols, and non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP / BiPAP, chest tubes using Emerson / PleurEvac)Experience in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU / DOU / IMC), and pre / post cardiac cath cardiovascular care requiredEpic charting experience requiredBenefits
