This is a newly created, high-impact 6-month contract position focused on the rapid integration and optimization of transportation operations from a recently acquired business unit into the broader corporate logistics network. The mission is fast, measurable cost reduction and process harmonization across a national and international footprint. Success hinges on speed, analytical rigor, and the ability to influence and align internal teams toward standardized, lower-cost processes. Requirements :
- 8+ years in transportation / distribution operations with a proven track record of delivering large-scale cost-reduction or process-improvement projects inside complex organizations.
- 3+ years in a managerial role
- Demonstrated strength in influencing internal stakeholders (warehouse, procurement, and operations teams) to adopt new processes and achieve financial targets internal change leadership experience is more important than carrier rate negotiation in this role.
- Exceptional analytical horsepower and a bias for rapid execution; you can digest disparate data sources, spot savings opportunities, and move to implementation within days or weeks.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills the acquired teams are collaborative but will need clear direction and partnership to move quickly.
- Hands-on experience with multiple ERPs and niche transportation systems is a plus (exposure to smaller / regional ERPs and legacy platforms is especially valuable).
- Working knowledge of Reconex or similar customer-facing TMS platforms is beneficial.
- Experience operating in an environment where full inbound tracking capabilities are still being built.
Responsibilities :
Quickly build in-depth understanding of the acquired division's current transportation practices (warehousing, carrier selection, routing, and freight management across its various operating brands).Partner closely with warehouse leaders, buyers, and operations teams to identify and implement productivity improvements and cost-takeout initiatives.Drive the consolidation and standardization of all inbound and outbound logistics flows (LTL, parcel / small package, ocean freight, and select truckload) into the corporate framework.Identify workflow gaps, eliminate redundancies, and establish sustainable, repeatable processes.Resolve current visibility gaps, especially around inbound shipment tracking.Document new standards and train affected teams to ensure changes stick post-integration.
