ABOUT THIS POSITION The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.The Water Services Department is seeking a Process Control Specialist for the City's Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant.Employees in this position direct the process control activities of the City's water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems, or wetlands facilities by evaluating performance, operating reports, and laboratory tests.Responsibilities include : Monitoring plant or system performance, operations and maintenance procedures and activities, Evaluating plant or system conditions and making process control decisions, Reviewing process control operations through inspection of plant or system records, technical data, operating reports, graphic charts, Developing the application of process control procedures to increase efficiency of plant or system operations, Advising on all matters pertaining to system process control operations to ensure the safe and economical functioning of distribution systems, Chemical and electrical usage efficiency and effectiveness, Coordinating operational strategies with the Water Facilities Supervisor. SALARY Pay Range : $82,451 to $121,825 annually.Hiring Range : $82,451 to $100,235 annually.Pay Range Explanation : Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Bachelor's degree in sanitary, civil or chemical engineering, or a closely related field. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Must possess Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Water Treatment Grade 3 operator's certification at time of application. Must possess Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Water Treatment Grade 4 operator's certification in the appropriate discipline by the end of probation (within one year of hire). If you possess certification from another state or jurisdiction, please contact the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality ( ) for Arizona Request for Operator Certification Reciprocity procedures and certification equivalency. This is a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week operation. Employees are required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Vacation and shift assignments are determined by seniority. All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position. Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus : Grade 4 Water Treatment ADEQ certification. Five years of experience in a process control role at a water treatment facility. Three years of experience compiling water quality reports and analyzing laboratory data. Experience managing databases and compiling operating reports. Experience in water distribution.
