Pay : $55,000 - $62,000 / Yearly depending on relevant experience

Addison Group is partnering with a well-established law firm to hire a skilled Legal Assistant supporting a Construction Law division in Raleigh, NC. This position is a great opportunity for a legal professional with experience in construction law, looking to support a high-performing team of attorneys in both litigation and transactional work.

Job Description :

The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and legal support to attorneys handling construction-related matters. This includes preparing and filing legal documents, managing attorney calendars, coordinating with clients, and supporting contract work. The position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Format and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, briefs, and correspondence
  • Assist with drafting and finalizing documents for motions, discovery, and trial preparation
  • File documents with state and federal courts using electronic systems
  • Support contract drafting and revisions, including AIA and custom contracts
  • Maintain legal files, both electronic and physical, ensuring they are current and organized
  • Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, appointments, and travel using Outlook
  • Prepare exhibit binders, indexes, and trial materials as needed
  • Assist with client communication, scheduling, and internal team coordination
  • Process administrative tasks such as conflict checks, expense reports, and matter openings
  • Coordinate meetings, depositions, and remote conferences
  • Provide flexibility for occasional overtime during urgent deadlines

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or legal assistant certificate preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of legal assistant experience, including at least 2 years in commercial construction law
  • Strong knowledge of court filing procedures and electronic filing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with legal document management systems Worksite / Filesite) is a plus
  • Excellent proofreading, formatting, and document preparation skills
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player
  • Additional Details :

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Office-based role with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend hours
