Position Summary

As an Emergency Medical Technician, you will provide immediate medical care to victims of emergencies such as accidents, sudden illnesses, and cardiac arrests. You will deliver vital pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from your initial contact until the patient care is handed over to the appropriate medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at public events and provide standby services as necessary.
• Document assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Provide care for patients in medical, traumatic, and psychiatric crises.
• Work as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate emergency equipment, including resuscitators and defibrillators.
• Assess injuries and illnesses to prioritize medical procedures for stabilization and transportation.
• Follow dispatcher instructions and drive emergency vehicles safely to specified locations.
• Administer medications via injection, IV procedures, or oral routes under physician direction.
• Communicate with medical personnel at treatment facilities to discuss patient care.
• Clean and decontaminate the ambulance after treating patients with infectious diseases.

Physical Demands

This role requires lifting over 50 lbs, pushing / pulling up to 140 lbs, and carrying up to 80 lbs short distances. Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and reaching overhead are required.
