Position Summary The Panel Build Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, and inspecting electrical control panels in accordance with project requirements and customer delivery schedules. This role requires the ability to interpret technical documentation, apply knowledge of UL508a and NEC standards, and collaborate with the project team to ensure panels meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and wire electrical panels following drawings, schematics, sketches, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Mount, connect, and secure electrical components per company and industry standards.
- Verify BOM accuracy, conduct inspections, and perform functional testing of completed panels.
- Prepare finished panels for shipment, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
- Collaborate with Panel Build Technicians, Controls Technicians, Quality Inspection Technicians, and Operations staff to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Safely operate hand tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment required for panel assembly.
- Support additional shop activities, including wiring, assembly, receiving material, and preparation, as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
General knowledge of wiring diagrams, schematics, mounting procedures, and component functionality.Familiarity with UL508a and NEC standards required.Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including assembly drawings, details, and BOMs.Skilled in using measuring tools (tape measure, scale) with accuracy.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Basic programming knowledge preferred but not required.Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor during the workday.Ability to exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and up to 20 lbs. frequently.Work performed in both office and shop environments with occasional exposure to high noise levels, moving equipment, and other physical hazards.Additional Information This job description is not intended to list every duty or responsibility.
