NYS RN Licensure Required\n\tBLS Certification\n\tACLS Certification\n\tOne (1) Year Experience serving in Med / Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse\n\n\nPosition Overview\n\n \n\t
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families\n\tThe RN assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode\n\tThe Med / Surg RN develops specialized skill in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring\n\tThe RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing\n\tHe / She promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment\n\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nApplies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care\n\n \n\t
Applies nursing knowledge and skill in delivery of care by assessing patient / family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness (being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do), and analyzing data / information obtained through direct observation and assessment, technology, or health team communication\n\tCreates a developmentally and age appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified\n\tIn collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and health care team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress\n\tThe RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition / reprioritization of needs\n\n\nQuality and Professional Development\n\n \n\t
Promotes, advocates for and protects the health, safety and rights of the patient\n\tSystematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice, uses the results of Quality Improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and to influence care delivery\n\tEngages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial and takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skill\n\tUses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems\n\tDemonstrates skill in application of nursing interventions including medication administration\n\n\nPatient / Family Education\n\n \n\t
