Overview
Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our clinical team at the Bloomington clinic. The Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist conducts routine medical laboratory tests that provide diagnostic and prognostic information to physicians. This role is essential to delivering accurate and timely lab results, supporting patient care, and maintaining quality control and assurance standards. Travel to other clinics may be required.

- Hiring Pay Range : $30.00-$36.00 per hour

What You’ll Do
Perform routine medical laboratory testing procedures in accordance with established policies and protocolsCollect, receive, identify, and label specimens following quality assurance and safety guidelinesPrepare specimens for off-site testing and researchParticipate in proficiency testing and maintain compliance with regulatory standardsOperate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentsAnalyze lab data to ensure accuracy and deliver quality test resultsRecord all test and quality control data accurately; report STAT results promptlyPrepare and maintain solutions, reagents, and stainsPerform routine phlebotomy proceduresAssist physicians and nurse practitioners with bone marrow biopsy proceduresCommunicate effectively with patients, physicians, and internal / external personnelTravel to other clinic locations as neededObserve OSHA and other applicable regulatory policiesPerform other duties as requested or requiredQualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited Medical Technology program.Certified or eligible for certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Must pass the registry exam within one year of hire.One year of experience in a high-complexity laboratory preferred.Special Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal vision and normal color perception. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on a desktop computer for extended periods of time. May require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, chemotherapy, biohazardous specimens & wastes and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
