Responsibilities
The Library Student Assistant for Academic Programming supports the library’s efforts to enhance academic engagement and foster a culture of learning across campus. This role involves assisting with the planning, promotion, and execution of academic-focused events, workshops, and resources designed to support students’ academic success and faculty collaboration.
- Assist in planning and organizing academic workshops, study sessions, and programs focusing on various subjects (, research skills, citation management, academic writing)
- Track attendance, and collect feedback for future programming improvements
- Help create resource materials or handouts for workshops (, research guides, citation tools, study strategies)
- Assist in setting up spaces for events, including tech support (, projectors, microphones) and materials distribution
- Support student engagement by helping to facilitate academic programs and encouraging participation
- Collaborate with faculty members to identify academic programming needs or opportunities for library partnerships
- Complete other library assistant duties (shelving, shelf-reading, tidying) as required
Minimum Qualifications
Positive attitude, adaptable, and eager to contribute to the library’s missionStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staffDetail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlinesBasic knowledge of academic library services and resources (, research databases, citation tools, library catalogs)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite is a plusAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamStudents in this role must commit to working one evening shift (5-10pm) Sunday-Thursday each weekNotes to Applicant This position requires Federal Work-Study as part of your financial aid package.
