A basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week of the assignment. This test must be passed in order to work on the telemetry / med-surg unit. The role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Coordination with other health team members is essential. Effective interaction with patients and significant others is required. High standards of professional nursing must be maintained. The traveler will provide high-quality care to geriatric, medical / surgical, adult, and telemetry patient populations. Positions are available on the medical-surgical unit and telemetry unit. The estimated work week is 36 hours. Floating to non-critical care inpatient units is required, including the emergency department if there are boarded patients. If the traveler has critical care experience, they may occasionally float to the critical care unit. Every other weekend rotation is required. Cerner EMR is used in this unit. Telemetry ratios are currently 1 : 4 on days and 1 : 5 on nights. Med / Surg ratios are currently 1 : 5 on days and 1 : 6 on nights.
