Electrician I (#012082) Perry Correctional Institution, Pelzer (GREENVILLE) Level 3

Job Responsibilities

Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventative maintenance of electrical fire alarms CCTV electronic security PA intercom and high voltage distribution systems emergency generators and equipment.

Plans for electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.

Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.

Requisitions materials and parts needed.

Ensures completion of installation / repairs.

Make emergency repairs to electrical systems and equipment.

Performs on-the-job training of inmates.

Requires cross-training in other areas of the maintenance field to include HVAC plumbing and general maintenance.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements :

A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.

SCDC Minimum Requirements :

( Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

A high school diploma and 5 years professional experience in the construction or repair of institutional electrical systems.
