American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to float between PCU and Med-Surg units with strong cardiac and airway management skills.
/ n / n Responsibilities / n
Work in a hospital environment, floating between PCU and Med-Surg units
Must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units, including potentially floating to Inpatient Rehab
Unit patient ratios average 5 : 1 for PCU and 6 : 1 for Med-Surg, with possible flex up to 7 : 1
Charting is completed using Epic; Epic experience is required
Night shift position with 3x12 hour shifts, 6 : 45 PM – 7 : 15 AM
Floating may occur up to every 4 hours and could be 2-3 times per shift
Weekend requirement is either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract period
Responsible for rapid response and management of emergencies as part of code teams
May be asked to manage endocrine and metabolic conditions including IV insulin administration
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
All time off and schedule requests must be submitted up front; Christmas RTO cannot be approved
One shift may be called off by the facility per two-week period
Holiday coverage is required for the duration of the contract

Active VA or Compact RN license in hand, or pending for single-state license holders from non-compact states
Current certifications required : ACLS and BLS
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration required
Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titrating cardiac drips
Skilled in central line care, trach management, PCA and heparin protocols, and non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP / BiPAP, chest tubes using Emerson / PleurEvac)
Experience in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU / DOU / IMC), and pre / post cardiac cath cardiovascular care required
Epic charting experience required
