Job Description
American Traveler seeks a Speech Language Pathologist with at least 1 year of inpatient experience, BLS, and an active Alaska license for an acute care hospital setting.
Responsibilities
Role is based in an acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designationInpatient caseload spanning ICU to skilled nursing and outpatient level patientsUnit census averages 50-70 patients daily with 5-6 SLPs on weekdays and 3-4 on weekendsFEES and MBS / Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies are performed; all SLPs complete MBS-IMPEpic EMR is used and experience is requiredDay shifts, 5x8 hours, typically 8 : 30am–5 : 00pmWeekend coverage is requiredNo floating to other units within the facility is required, but floating between facilities within the state may be expectedNo on-call requirementSLPs work with a varied patient population, including those with complex discharge needsTeam includes multiple SLPs scheduled each day for supportSLPs will be assessed for readiness before being assigned to ICU-level patients; ICU rotation is not requiredMinimal to no time off (RTO) is strongly preferred and must be requested upfrontScrubs are provided by the facilityFree parking available on siteFormer staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and reside further than 50 miles from the facilityFirst-time travelers are accepted for this positionRequirements
Active Alaska SLP license required if applicableCurrent BLS certification requiredAt least 1 year of recent inpatient SLP experience requiredExperience with Epic EMR requiredAbility to perform FEES and MBS procedures requiredReferences : Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year within the past 3 years in a comparable settingCOVID and Flu vaccination documentation requiredSocial Security card and valid driver's license requiredLocals not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facilityPending license not acceptedBenefits
