Assistant Production Manager
Assistant Production Manager is responsible for supporting the Production Manager in reliably and profitably delivering production parts to meet the goals set by the Production Manager. Ability to communicate, negotiate and gain cooperation cross functionally is crucial. They will participate on the project onboarding team for new products and ensure internal manufacturing processes and plans are aligned with customer needs, both for new product development and for sustaining production. They support and provide direction to subordinates when the normal supervisor is absent. When circumstances necessitate, they also engage with customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to support the Production Management team.
- Act as liaison for production activities across all shifts.
- Act as the liaison between the Operations team (EHS, Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain) and the PMO, ensuring relevant risks and issues are identified and being resolved.
- Coordination of build plan maintenance in the ERP systems for new product, and communicating due date changes through First Article completion.
- Assist Training Coordinator in the creation, management, and execution of Production Training Plans.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality at all times throughout the facility.
- Assist in setting performance goals as required to meet operational objectives.
- Ensure that all customer actions and requests are responded to in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
- Assist in generating capital expenditure budgets, staffing plans, cost reduction, and performance improvement proposals.
- Create and facilitate rework Job Orders.
Identification and Planning of Manufacturing Requirements :
Identify and create the manufacturing plans for new product through First Article completion.Identify potential risks with operational capabilities and propose solutions to address these issues.Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization :
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing process output and overall throughput.Identify areas for process improvement and collaborate with both Engineering and Production teams to implement best practices that increase efficiency and reduce potential issues.Abide by all safety, quality, personnel, and other policies as applicable.Ability to maintain regular, punctual, and reliable attendance as set by the supervisor according to handbook guidelines consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Marginal Duties :
Perform other duties as assigned for the good of the department and company.Work Qualifications :
Formal education : Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience : 3-5 years related experience with both shop floor and project management experience.Computer Skills : Must be able to use common office software and engineering software systems, including MS Projects.Certificates and Licenses : none required.Occasional company travel via airplane and / or vehicle as needed.Professional Competencies :
