Position overview

NYC Health + Hospitals / Kings County is seeking a Director of Pediatric Surgery to join their team. Kings County Hospital, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, operates a Level 1 Trauma Center serving Brooklyn and Staten Island, and maintains a strong affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.

The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to provide comprehensive, high-quality health services to all New Yorkers, regardless of ability to pay, emphasizing social and racial equity.

Located in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush / Prospect-Lefferts area, Kings County serves a diverse patient population, primarily Afro-Caribbean, with English as the main language. Knowledge of French / Haitian Creole is helpful but not required.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief of Surgery to ensure high standards of care in pediatric surgery.
• Assist in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Manage administrative and clinical daily tasks, including scheduling.
• Support growth in operative case volume.
• Participate in recruiting staff for the division.
• Lead efforts to obtain and maintain ACS Level 2 pediatric trauma verification.
• Serve as Pediatric Trauma Medical Director upon verification.
