Location : Works hybrid to one of these locations : Jersey City, Chicago, Alpharetta, Chapel Hill, or Hartford.

Compensation : $160,000 to $180,000

About the Role

One of the largest privately held AM Best “A” rated property & casualty carriers in the U.S. is seeking a seasoned Underwriting Auditor to join their team. Known for their superior underwriting and exceptional workplace culture, the company is focused on profitable growth and continuous improvement. In this hybrid role, you will conduct thorough underwriting audits, identify trends, and collaborate with leadership to enhance underwriting processes and ensure consistency across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Refine and execute the Quality Underwriting Assurance Program, including protocols, reporting templates, procedures, and annual audit schedules.

Evaluate adherence to underwriting guidelines and assess the application of underwriting judgment, risk selection, pricing, and terms.

Collaborate with the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and Underwriting Management to recommend process improvements and identify training needs.

Assist in developing and delivering training materials to address gaps identified in audits.

Provide actionable recommendations for procedural and system changes.

Work closely with CUO, Underwriting Management, and Actuarial teams to perform detailed analyses on underwriting trends, loss and expense ratios, compliance, and portfolio demographics.

Experience and Qualifications

15+ years of property / casualty underwriting experience.

Extensive experience in commercial non-admitted (excess and surplus lines) underwriting.

In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, policies, and audit practices.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Proven ability to deliver clear, actionable feedback and recommendations to underwriting teams.

Compensation & Benefits
