POSITION SUMMARY :
Accounting clerk with experience in accounts receivable, cash handling and customer service, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Works with minimal direct supervision, has mastered most job junctions below, and performs other duties as needed. Is cross-trained in most departmental procedures to serve as back-up to Accounting Clerk III and / or Deputy Treasurer.

Training and Experience :
Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in accounting or a related field and four (4) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities :
Licenses / Certifications :
Valid Illinois driver's license or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Good knowledge of business English, arithmetic, spelling, and grammar; and of the laws and regulations that impact the work performed; working knowledge of generally accepted office procedures, practices, systems, and equipment; knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures related to the accounts payable function.
Exceptional skill in customer service and in maintaining effective working relationships; skill in maintaining filing systems and in data entry with reasonable accuracy and speed to satisfy departmental needs; and using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and accounting software.
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of the materials and situations encountered on the job; understand, analyze and maintain accounts payable records and prepare reports from such records; deal with the public tactfully and courteously and to work harmoniously with other employees; exercise sound judgment in making decisions in accordance with ordinances, regulations and established departmental procedures; demonstrate integrity in all work interactions and transactions; and to learn new systems and work methods.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT :
Employee shall reside within 40 miles of Adams County, Illinois within six months of the effective date of employment with the City of Quincy.
