Overview
Cooley LLP has an opportunity in our Employment & Labor practice group for an Employment & Labor Attorney (VC) with 3-6 years of broad experience in employment law. The ideal candidate will have sophistication in employment law and be interested in advising venture capital and other investment firms on industry-specific employment issues. Familiarity with the venture capital ecosystem and collaboration with our fund formation practice to advise fund clients on employment-related matters is valued. While employment counseling and agreement drafting experience is key, some litigation experience is a plus. Fund formation associates interested in transitioning their focus to employment and labor matters are encouraged to apply. EOE.
Responsibilities
- Provide employment law counseling and draft employment agreements for venture capital and investment clients, including fund clients.
- Collaborate with the fund formation practice to advise on industry-specific employment issues.
- Advise on employment-related regulatory matters affecting venture-backed companies and portfolios.
- Support litigation matters as needed.
Qualifications
3-6 years of broad experience in employment law.Familiarity with the venture capital ecosystem.Experience in employment counseling and agreement drafting; some litigation experience is a plus.Interest in transitioning to employment and labor matters for fund formation associates.Strong academic credentials; exceptional written and verbal communication skills; high motivation and initiative; strong work ethic.EOE.Compensation
The expected annual pay range is $260,000 - $390,000, with final offer based on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset.
