Job Duties

Up to $25,000 Bonus for Registered Nurses that are new to state service and remain with the facility for 2 years.

$15,000 sign on bonus will be awarded to new hires to state service with a one-year written agreement requirement.

An additional $10,000 retention bonus will eb awarded to new hires who are hired after November 9th, 2023. The retention bonus will be paid out one year after hire date and require a on-year written agreement.

Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

ESH invites applications for the position of Registered Nurse II.

We are currently hiring for 12-hour shifts : D / E 7 : 00 a.m. - 7 : 30 p.m. or E / N 7 : 00 p.m. - 7 : 30 a.m.

The Registered Nurse, Sr. will utilize knowledge base and experience, provide quality nursing care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients through the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy and procedure and standards of nursing practice. Evaluates, supervises, documents and provides guidance in performance of staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must successfully complete BLS, TOVA and other required training upon employment at Eastern State Hospital
• Must successfully complete and maintain competencies;
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, team focused care and a professional appearance / approach;
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care utilizing knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical disorders and cultural needs of the psychiatric patient;
• Ability to delegate and supervise.

Psychiatry and or geriatric related experience

Previous experience in nursing
