We are seeking a dedicated Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will lead the coordination of care for patients with enterostomal therapy needs. You will initiate and adapt care plans as patients’ needs evolve, providing expert clinical guidance and education to patients, families, staff, and physicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish and evaluate standards of practice and care.
- Consult with healthcare staff and physicians on innovative care modalities and continuous care management.
- Contribute to departmental goals, adhering to policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards while meeting regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee patient care for those with disorders of the GI, GU, and integumentary systems, including stomas, wounds, and other conditions.
- Assess the effectiveness of supplies and equipment, ensuring proper utilization and cost-efficiency.
- Monitor a caseload of patients and provide follow-up through telephone triage.
- Educate patients and family members on relevant health topics, offering resources to support their care.
- Maintain meticulous records of activities and compile necessary statistical data.
- Stay informed on the latest research findings and technological advancements to enrich staff and patient education.
- Document all direct care interactions and education provided to patients and families.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives within multidisciplinary teams.
- Serve as a consultant for patient care assessment, planning, implementation, and discharge arrangements.

ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing is required.3-4 years of clinical experience in enterostomal therapy and 2 years of precepting / teaching experience are mandatory.WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing) or ET (Enterostomal Therapist) certification is required.Active Maryland RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support certification are required.This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $87,318.00 - USD $157,289.00 per year.
