Description :

Must have oncology experience and chemotherapy certification.

Unit has a total of 40 beds, with 20 beds available on each floor.

Patient ratios are dependent on staffing ability, targeting 1 : 3 but stretching to 1 : 4 as necessary.

The unit is staffed with unit secretaries and techs, including HUC from M-F 7A-3P.

Two PCTs are available for the AM shift and one for the PM shift.

Equipment includes bedside monitors mounted on walls and bedside computers, with lift assist devices available.

Documentation is managed through a specified system.

Scheduling requires rotating weekends and travelers float first as per policy.

Patient experience includes bedside shift reports, safety rounds, managing team up, and maintaining a no-pass zone.

Certifications required include BLS and ACLS, along with ONS chemotherapy certification.

Advanced skills such as excellent assessment abilities and competence in administering chemotherapy are needed.

Infrequent procedures like bone marrow biopsies are performed on the unit.

The team is known for its excellent collaboration and welcoming environment for float and contract employees.

Recognition includes multiple accreditations and performing a range of transplant therapies.
