ICU RN Job Details

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1800–$1840

Assignment Length : 13 weeks

Location : Christiansburg, Virginia (24073) – New River Valley

Healthcare Setting : 12-bed CCU, Level III Trauma Center

Nursing Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7 : 00pm – 7 : 00am), 36 hours / week

Start Date : November 24, 2025

End Date : February 23, 2026

Patient Ratio : 2 : 1

Charting System : EPIC (experience required)

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block; at least one holiday per contract

Orientation : 24 hours

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in Virginia or Compact State (required)

Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience preferred

Certifications : ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS and CCRN preferred

Proficiency with EPIC charting system

Experience in large Level 1 or Level 2 healthcare facilities preferred

Ability to float to other units within skillset

COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical / religious exemptions considered)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients

Manage ventilator patients, arterial lines, multiple IV drips, and pressure support

Assist physicians with bedside procedures (e.g., chest tube insertion / removal)

Perform IV therapy, including arterial line management, central / PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV initiation / maintenance

Deliver respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, pulmonary edema / embolism management)

Administer medications, including continuous IV sedation and emergency medications

Follow IV insulin protocols and manage endocrine / metabolic emergencies

Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac dysrhythmias

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, etc.)

Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions

Accurately document patient care using EPIC
