About The Tax Project

We’re a civic education nonprofit helping people understand taxes, government spending, and public finance through clear, data-driven content.

What you’ll do

  • Create digital assets for our website, email, and social channels (X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Web, Email Channels).
  • Design social graphics, charts, infographics, one-pagers, thumbnails, and simple motion pieces.
  • Edit short videos (clips, reels, captions, lower thirds) optimized per platform.
  • Turn data and research into clear visuals that match our brand style.
  • Help plan and maintain a simple content calendar to increase posting cadence.
  • Utilize and Build Upon our Brand Style Guidelines
  • Build and Maintain Digital Assets library
  • Cross Platform Publish (basic updates) and organize files with consistent naming.
  • Track basic campaign performance (reach, clicks, engagement) and share insights.

Desired skills (nice to have—not all required)

  • Portfolio or sample work in digital design, social graphics, or short-form video.
  • Comfort with Image tools : Photoshop, Figma, Canva, or similar
  • Comfort with Video tools : Davinci Resolve, or similar
  • An eye for typography, layout, and clean, readable charts / infographics.
  • Ability to write short, clear captions and headlines in plain language.
  • Familiarity with channel specs (sizes, lengths, safe areas) and accessibility basics (alt text, contrast, readable text).
  • Exposure to WordPress or another CMS is a plus.
  • Exposure to Google Analytics, SEO is a plus
  • Curiosity about public finance, budgets, or data storytelling.
