Must be proficient in Reporting, TEE, Watchman, Mitral clips and bubble studies. Fast paced busy department. Epic experience preferred

Echocardiography is one of the specializations that may be chosen by an ultrasound technician. Professionals in this field use sound wave projectors to project sound into human tissue in a conical or rectangular beam. The sound then echoes back to a receiver that returns data to a computer which is used to create an image of the tissue. Echo technicians may specialize in adult echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography or fetal echocardiography.

Echo technicians are responsible for preparing patients and diagnostic equipment for imaging procedures. They also explain procedures to patients. After positioning the patient, an echo tech applies gel that aids in sound transmission to the patient's skin before using the diagnostic equipment to create images of the patient's heart. Afterward, the echo technician helps physicians interpret the data from the images and determines which images should be saved and which should be discarded. Echo technicians may also be responsible for ensuring that records are kept properly.

Responsibilities :

Perform diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols. Set up and adjust all imaging equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.

Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures. Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures. Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations. Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards. Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, and patient data / history).

Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and any other areas in the department.

Requirements :

Licensure / Certification / Registration : BLS Provider American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

One or more of the following is required : Cardiac Sonographer credentialed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Medical Sonographer credentialed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Cardiographer Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Sonography Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
