Epic Inpatient Clinical Documentation Application Analyst Go-Live Support (Remote, 3-Month Contract)
This is a remote position.
We are seeking an experienced Epic Inpatient Clinical Documentation (Clin Doc) Application Analyst to support a large health system during a critical Epic go-live period. This is a 3-month remote contract focused heavily on break / fix ticket support, stabilization of inpatient documentation workflows, and ensuring clinicians can document safely and efficiently from day one. The consultant will work in a fast-paced, high-volume ticketing environment and must be comfortable participating in an on-call rotation during the go-live window to support 24 / 7 inpatient operations.
Key responsibilities include :
- Provide day-to-day break / fix application support for Epic Inpatient Clinical Documentation during and after go-live.
- Triage, analyze, and resolve incidents and service requests related to :
- Provider and nursing documentation
- Flowsheets and documentation rows / rows groups
- Notes, SmartTexts, SmartPhrases, SmartLinks, and SmartForms
- Admission, transfer, and discharge documentation workflows
- Work within the organization's ITSM / ticketing system to manage, prioritize, track, and document tickets in a timely manner.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and ancillary staff to understand issues, reproduce problems, and validate fixes.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement durable solutions, minimizing repeat tickets.
- Maintain and optimize Clin Doc build, such as :
- Flowsheet templates and profiles
- Note types, templates, and documentation tools
- Care plans, problem lists, and documentation-related BPAs or decision support
- Coordinate with other application teams (e.g., Inpatient Orders, Procedure Orders, Pharmacy, Radiant, OpTime / Anesthesia, Cupid, HIM) to support integrated workflows.
- Participate in on-call rotations (evenings, nights, and / or weekends as needed) during the go-live period and early stabilization.
- Adhere to established change management and governance processes for all build changes.
- Create and maintain knowledge base articles, known-issue logs, and quick-reference documentation for common issues and standard solutions.
Contract details :
Duration : Approximately 3 months (with potential extension based on project needs).Start Date : ASAP must be able to ramp quickly.Location : 100% remote, with potential extended hours to align with hospital operations during go-live.Hours : Full-time (40 hours / week) with additional hours possible during peak go-live periods and on-call coverage.Required qualifications :
Epic Clin Doc (Inpatient Clinical Documentation) certification / accreditation or demonstrable equivalent experience with recent hands-on support.2+ years of experience as an Epic Inpatient Application Analyst, with a strong focus on clinical documentation.At least one recent Epic go-live or major upgrade supporting inpatient documentation workflows.Strong understanding of inpatient clinical workflows, including admission, rounding, and discharge documentation; nursing flowsheets and provider notes; interdisciplinary documentation and communication; and proven experience delivering break / fix support in a hospital or large health system setting.Experience working with ticketing / ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy, Cherwell).Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and patient-safety impact.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support users effectively in a remote environment (Teams / Zoom / Chat).Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule and participate in an on-call rotation during go-live and stabilization.Preferred qualifications :
Experience supporting large, multi-hospital health systems on Epic Inpatient.Familiarity with integrated documentation workflows, including HIM / coding, quality measures, regulatory documentation, and nursing-sensitive indicators.Experience participating in testing cycles (unit, integrated, user acceptance, and regression testing) for clinical documentation changes.Prior work creating training materials, tip sheets, and quick reference guides for clinical staff.
