Job Description :
The Litigation Secretary will support a team of civil defense litigation attorneys by preparing legal documents, managing schedules and deadlines, coordinating filings, and assisting with trial preparation. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Draft, edit, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
- Manage e-filing in State and Federal courts, adhering to court rules and deadlines
- Transcribe dictation, handle document formatting, and prepare trial materials
- Coordinate schedules, court dates, meetings, travel, and related logistics
- Maintain organized client files and conduct periodic file reviews for closure or off-site storage
- Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Collaborate with administrative staff across departments to ensure efficiency
- Utilize legal technology platforms such as iManage, InTapp, and Chrome River
Qualifications :
3–5 years of experience as a legal secretary, specifically in civil defense litigationProficient with e-filing systems and knowledgeable in court proceduresStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe, and legal-specific softwareFamiliarity with BigHand Now or similar systems (training provided if needed)Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain confidentialityTyping speed of 70+ WPM preferredAdditional Details :
