Be a part of our outstanding Operating Room team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, the largest hospital in Wisconsin, renowned for innovative patient care. Our ability to adapt to high-stress situations and attention to detail are crucial in the operating room to make a positive impact on patient lives.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shift (8 or 10 hr shifts). Monday to Friday with on-call requirements mostly overnight (5-8 slots) and a couple of weekends per 8-week schedule. On-call duties necessitate arriving within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care using aseptic techniques.Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment effectively for surgical procedures.Assist in various procedures while ensuring room setup safety and efficiency.Function as a Second Assistant during surgeries as necessary.Keep track of equipment and supply status and notify staff of any issues.Transport patients, equipment, and supplies as required.Maintain specialty carts, ensuring completeness and readiness.Provide patient positioning and transport services, adhering to safety techniques.Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the care of patients across all ages.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 6 months of hire.Education :
Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.Experience :
No prior experience is required.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room procedures.Familiarity with operating room equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency.Physical Requirements :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and stressful environment.Must lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and carry up to 40 lbs.Experience pushing / pulling up to 30 lbs. and performing sliding transfers with assistance.Frequent movements such as sitting, standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and reaching.Must have functional sight and hearing and be able to operate necessary equipment.This job description outlines the type of work expected in this role.
