Position Summary : The Senior Accountant will ensure complete and systematic accounting of receipts and disbursements in the organization by performing complex clerical and bookkeeping tasks and applying accepted procedures in preparing and maintaining accounting records. Primary Responsibilities :
- Prepare financial reports and accounting statements.
- Post journal entries to general ledger.
- Generate summary sheets for use by supervisor and auditor.
- Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to GAAP and departmental procedures.
- Participate in annual budget preparation.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Process accounts payable.
- Process accounts receivable. o Prepare bi-weekly invoices for Controller's review. o Reconcile accounts receivable aging list monthly.
- Verify and process employee reimbursements and mileage.
- Verify and process independent contractor payments.
- Maintain vendor contracts.
- Allocate payroll expenses. Assist Payroll Coordinator in processing payroll.
- Support accounting department and cross train in all accounting functions.
- Ensure each school site met their minimum in-kind requirement. o Prepare in-kind report and post journal entry quarterly.
- Prepare special reports for management, including reports for agencies for 401K plan, workers' compensation, insurances, vendors, grantors, and State of California.
- Assist with training Staff Accountants in accounting procedures and ProYouth policies.
- Cross-train and fill-in during absences in Finance Office.
- Other Duties as Assigned. Education :
- High School diploma and AA / AS required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred. Experience :
- 3 years of experience in non-profit accounting preferred.
- Experience in Fund Accounting preferred.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
