Position Overview :
Under the direction of the RN Supervisor, the LPN Wing Supervisor :
- Carries out the medical plan of care.
- Oversees Nursing Assistants’ care of residents and high school students.
- Ensures care is performed according to good nursing practice and applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Engages with residents daily and provides compassionate care.
General Duties :
Administer and record medications, treatments, and monitoring (e.g., glucose checks) as ordered; document resident response.Accurately transcribe physician orders.Complete monthly summaries as scheduled.Review care plans with NAs on monthly summary day; update plans to reflect residents’ current condition.Notify RN Supervisor immediately of significant changes in resident condition.Report and record changes in resident condition to RN Supervisor.Communicate resident transfers to immediate family and department heads; complete transfer forms.Update care plans with clear, concise, time-limited goals; direct team to implement approaches.Assist physicians with rounds, examinations, and treatments as needed.Collect laboratory specimens and ensure accurate delivery; document in EHR / EMR.Supervise post-mortem procedures; notify department heads and handle collection of belongings.Encourage resident participation in scheduled activities.Report care plan changes, assignments, and resident condition updates to the team.Assist RN Supervisor with annual evaluations of nursing assistants; write commendations and counseling records.Complete or assist in incident reports.Document weights and vital signs; reweigh residents if discrepancy ≥3 lbs.Clean and stock treatment trays daily.Prepare daily report for the wing.Count narcotics with another nurse at beginning and end of shift.Maintain accurate inventory of resident belongings.Maintain work area in clean, orderly condition; perform scheduled housekeeping assignments.Submit maintenance requests as needed.Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment; report potential safety hazards.Supervise and direct resident care by nursing assistants per prescribed plan.Attend care plan conferences for assigned wing as requested.Assist in orientation of new nursing staff.Adjust staffing assignments to ensure quality resident care.Conduct team conferences as needed.Ensure staff is familiar with changes in policies and procedures.Update daily census as needed.Monitor NA documentation for completeness and compliance.Collect data for quality assurance studies as directed.Monitor nurse aide performance for compliance with infection control practices.Provide direct care for residents as needed within restrictions.Seek clarification or guidance when in doubt regarding responsibilities.Document drug disposal in EHR / EMR.Attend in-services, department and staff meetings, and committee meetings as required.Assist CNAs on the hall as needed.Dress Code :
