As a Physician in a correctional health care setting, you will provide comprehensive, high-quality medical care to patients with diverse health care needs. You will develop individualized treatment plans, manage both acute and chronic conditions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote positive health outcomes. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with an active, unrestricted Virginia medical license. Responsibilities Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic illnesses. Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and physical examinations. Develop, implement, and monitor patient-centered treatment plans, including prescriptions and follow-ups. Educate patients on their conditions, medications, and preventive care practices. Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care. Refer patients to external specialists when advanced care is required. Maintain accurate and compliant electronic health records (EHR). Adhere to facility policies and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Stay current on medical guidelines, standards of care, and best practices. Qualifications MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Virginia medical license. Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in correctional, urgent care, or primary care settings. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation abilities. Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a secure facility environment. Pay rate : $135 per hour
