Description
The American Indian College Fund (College Fund) strives to positively impact the lives of American Indians by supporting their higher education and career objectives. College Fund team members believe education is the answer and collectively we raise funds, provide scholarships, and holistically support students in achieving their goals. Programming, research, and enhancing the capacities of tribal colleges and universities (TCUs) are also integral elements of our mission.
The College Fund supports TCUs that implement Indigenous Early Childhood Education Programs (IECE) programs and supports college students. We do not work directly with teachers, parents / families, and children in the early learning centers.
The Program Coordinator serves in a program coordination role for grants related to the College Fund's Indigenous Early Childhood Education and Indigenous Visionaries Programs. Program coordination ranges from basic grant administration to guided engagement in implementation and documentation of program impact. This position is responsible for the implementation of grant components to achieve objectives that are required by each TCU program grant. Program implementation includes monitoring systems, supporting budget management, and supporting the adherence to program milestones and reporting timelines.
This position will work directly with the Program Officer, TCU Programs, administration, staff, faculty, and students implementing early childhood education and [CH1] other sponsored programs at tribal colleges. The Program Coordinator will also participate in coordination of communication with select external constituents such as contractors and identified partners supporting the programs. Close collaboration and proactive communication with other members of Programs, Research and Evaluation, Student Success Services, and Resource Development departments are essential for overall sponsored program success.
Job Objectives and Responsibilities
- Supports, coordinates, and executes the timely implementation of re-grant programs :
Coordinates program plans and execute grant monitoring systems
Coordinates grant application, selection, award, and disbursement processesMonitors grantee progress towards grant objectives and seek appropriate support and guidance to problem solve as neededIdentifies technical assistance strategies for TCUs related to program implementationCoordinates communication with consultants, as neededSupports collection and maintenance of data for program accountability and reporting purposesEnsures communication and reporting to donors are appropriate and timelyAdministers financial and administrative processes for programsManages vendor, contractor, and consultant agreements and invoices
Prepares travel authorization documentsPrepares payment requests and ensure payments are sent with proper documentationCreates and gathers monthly summaries of programs for reporting to Board and executive leadershipConducts routine review of financials : expenditures and budgetsIncrease TCUs' knowledge capacity in supported programs through outreach and disseminationDevelops strategies for continued learning and visibility through a Community of Practice and Dreaming Beyond the Classroom Student Professional Learning Series to identify opportunities for shared learning / teaching to inform this work
Supports the logistics and planning of site visits and convening events in collaboration with the Program Officer.Provides targeted grantee training in grant administration in supported programsIdentifies national and other Native conferences and organizations for programs supportedSupports strategic dissemination of project findings and impactSupport other College Fund Strategic Goals and ObjectivesCollaborates across the College Fund to accomplish organizational goals
Engages in Programs and College Fund discussions related to program impact, and provides summarized / analyzed program informationActively participates in department level and organizational strategic and annual planningEngages in Programs and College Fund discussions related to program impact, and provide summarized / analyzed project informationSupports sharing of successful programming between the College Fund and the TCUs and among the TCUs themselvesCreates and gathers monthly and quarterly summaries of IECE programs for reporting to Board and senior leadershipDisseminates information about program activity for internal accountability, fundraising, and public education purposesPresents College Fund programming and outcomes at conferences and other venuesShare student stories and program successes to support the College Fund's general awareness and fundraising effortsSupports and promotes storytelling and visibility of students and communities served through the College Fund website. Experience working with American Indian communities and tribal collegesBachelor's DegreeTwo years of experience coordinating grants and / or sponsored programsMinimum of 1-year experience working in the field of early childhood education, and particularly with Native children and familiesExperience conducting research within the field of early childhood educationWork Environment
