POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Life Enhancement Assistant plays a key role in enriching our residents' lives by fostering vibrant, meaningful connections within their neighborhoods and households. This position is designed for a creative, proactive individual who is passionate about facilitating a variety of personal interests, social activities, and opportunities for personal growth. You will craft experiences that promote daily pleasures, physical and mental well-being, recreation, exercise, social interaction, and lifelong learning.

In this role, you'll work closely with residents to create an environment where they can thrive-whether it's through exercise routines, community rituals, or building friendships. Your ability to create, plan, and execute engaging activities will support each individual's well-being while promoting a lively, connected neighborhood atmosphere. You'll collaborate with residents, coworkers, families, and volunteers to maintain a welcoming, positive, and enriching environment.

Your duties will also include problem-solving and conflict resolution to ensure that activities are tailored to the diverse needs and interests of residents, helping them get the most out of their experience at Pilgrim Place.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Life Enhancement Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to :

  • Design & Coordinate Meaningful Activities : Collaborate with other resident services to develop programs that enhance residents' physical, social, and emotional well-being. Develop group activities and individual experiences to support their needs and preferences.
  • Support Resident Engagement : Facilitate activities for residents who are unable to leave their rooms and ensure those who are mobile are equally engaged in social, recreational, and educational programs.
  • Enhance Community Life : Organize and supervise both small and large-group activities, including supervised daily walks, off-site outings, religious services, memorials, and wellness programs. Ensure that activities align with residents' interests and health goals.
  • Promote Resident Autonomy : Work with residents and families to ensure they have access to meals, personal correspondence, and other resources that support their daily well-being.
  • Collaborate with Volunteers : Lead volunteers in assisting residents with attending various campus programs and activities. Ensure that volunteers are fully engaged in supporting the community.
  • Track & Record Participation : Maintain detailed records of resident participation in activities, ensuring progress notes and activity plans are updated regularly to reflect resident needs and preferences.
  • Contribute to Resident Care : Actively participate in care conferences and help integrate activity plans with multidisciplinary care strategies. You'll work closely with the health team to ensure that each resident's individual needs are met.
  • Engage in Team Collaboration : Join committee teams to contribute to Pilgrim Place's ongoing Culture Change process. Attend meetings, collaborate on organizational goals, and support a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should possess :

  • Completion of Required Training : You will either have completed or be willing to complete a 72-hour training course specific to this position within six months of employment, ensuring you're fully equipped to succeed.
  • Diverse Experience in Social and Recreational Programming : A background in organizing and leading social, recreational, or therapeutic activities will set you up for success. You bring an understanding of how to engage a wide range of personalities and needs within a community setting.
  • Leadership & Interpersonal Skills : You demonstrate strong leadership qualities, whether leading a group of residents in an activity or mentoring volunteers. You excel in building positive relationships, resolving conflicts, and motivating others to achieve shared goals.
  • Expert Assessment & Insight : You have a keen ability to assess residents' needs, preferences, and skills, tailoring activities to their individual desires. Your insight helps create programs that enrich their daily lives and promote physical, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Clear Communication & Advocacy : You are a strong communicator who can effectively convey residents' needs to both the team and the larger community. Your advocacy ensures that each resident's voice is heard and respected.
  • Volunteer Coordination : You are adept at working with volunteers, guiding them to support the activities program and fostering a sense of teamwork. You understand the importance of a positive volunteer experience and are skilled at providing direction and support.
  • Tech-Savvy : You are proficient with computer programs like Calendar Creator, Microsoft Word, and Print Artist, allowing you to create, track, and share activity schedules and documentation efficiently.
  • Confidentiality & Judgment : You maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work and use sound judgment to make decisions that support residents' privacy and well-being.
  • Reliability : You have a strong work ethic, ensuring you report to work on time and complete your assigned shifts. You understand the importance of consistency and reliability in this vital role.
