What Awaits You?
The Plumbing Maintenance Skilled Worker, as directed by, and / or in assistance of, higher level plumbing mechanics / supervisor, performs maintenance, installation and repair work on piped utility systems and fixtures and on the piping and connections of equipment. This work is performed under close supervision and using the tools and techniques of plumbing technology.
This is a four-year, Maryland state approved apprenticeship program. Successful candidates will complete the program with a Maryland apprentice license. This will require four years of schooling (Fall and Spring semesters for 6 hours per week in the evenings) plus 2000 hours of on-the-job training. Hopkins pays for schooling, books, etc. There are assessments throughout and a State-administered exam at the end. Candidates may be eligible for step pay increases for each year of requirements that are fulfilled.
